Emily Blitz, PsyD

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist providing psychodynamic and attachment-based treatment. I provide culturally sensitive and LGBTQIA+ affirmative care. I earned both my doctorate in clinical psychology and my master’s in clinical psychology from Adler University in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to graduate school, I worked at an organization for survivors of domestic violence. This experience led to my interest in contributing to the health and well-being of others. In my graduate school training, I worked in college counseling, community mental health, and private practice settings. Specifically, I have worked extensively with cisgender women and cisgender women’s trauma, having completed a full-time clinical internship at a transitional housing facility for formerly incarcerated women.

Following graduate school, I completed a year-long fellowship at the Chicago Center for Psychoanalysis. I completed my post-doctoral residency at a group private practice that specialized in relational psychotherapy and multiculturalism.

In addition to my private practice, I have supervised doctoral interns at an APA-accredited, community mental health internship that delivers comprehensive, trauma-informed care in primarily underserved and high-need neighborhoods. I have also served as an Associate Professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where I have taught graduate students on topics related to Organizational Psychology, clinical supervision, and professional practice.

Outside of my role as a psychologist, I enjoy connecting with family and friends, cooking new recipes, strolling with my dog, and catching up on books and TV.
